About Principal David Krakoff

Principal David Krakoff is an experienced instructional leader who is dedicated to facilitating supportive and inclusive environments for all students. As a school principal, David has guided schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels and has built collaborative teams that have produced significant increases in student achievement. Prior to David’s experience as a principal, he was a central office administrator and vice principal. In these roles at The Villages Charter School in Florida, David took on a leadership role and helped his school receive six consecutive “A” ratings from the Florida Department of Education. As an assistant principal at Woodland Hills Junior High School in Pennsylvania during the 2009-2010 school year, David contributed to a team that developed success in 19 areas of NCLB after the school only achieved success in six the year prior.

During David’s tenure as principal, he has served at four public schools in Florida and Pennsylvania. His terms as principal include Stuart Middle School and Yearling Middle School in Florida, Smith-Wade-El Elementary School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and his current role as a high school principal in Midland, Pennsylvania, and has made it his goal to increase student proficiency rates and student growth rates on state assessments as well as to improve the schools’ cultures. David’s experience is underlined by successes such as reducing student suspensions by 50%, or more during every principalship, increasing student proficiency rates at every site, becoming a mentor principal with Florida Atlantic University’s aspiring leaders’ program, and being chosen as one of only 10 middle school principals to be chosen by the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) and Rand Corporation for a case study due to his schools strategic action plan for school improvement and the resulting data. Also, coaching and developing teachers is a point of emphasis in David’s leadership, and he helped to develop Florida’s 2021 state teacher of the year, Krista Stanley, who at the time taught middle school math while a member of David’s staff and has since begun her own career in school administration.

Serving as Principal David Krakoff in Pennsylvania, David has led schools in Erie, Lancaster, and currently serves as principal and head of school at Midland Innovation and Technology Charter School (MITCS). Before joining MITCS in February of 2023, David served as Director of Education at Erie Rise Leadership Academy Charter School where he developed systems to improve a historically underperforming institution. As director of education, David facilitated a restorative practice and Glasser Choice Theory focused disciplinary system, created support systems to help guide social emotional growth in students that lowered student infractions by 80%, and lowered percentage of at-risk students in eight out of ten reading and math CBM assessment areas.
